Huawei Honor 5X Review

Huawei Honor 5X is a good smartphone which, offers more specifications and features with reasonable price about $199.99 so it's one of the huawei cheap phone.

Honor 5X Design

The Honor 5X has a very similar design to the last model Honor 7. The metal construction for the back and sides is awesome, while the top and bottom strips are manufactured from plastic and the design is similar to the Galaxy S5 in using the dimples on that strips also the rear cover has a brushed finish on its main part.

The Huawei Honor 5X camera protruded a little and the fingerprint scanner positioned underneath it and all buttons and ports are positioned at it’s normal position.

The smart button which, exits on the Honor 7 to help performing different functions, unfortunately lacks The Honor 5X but in fact that’s not important, but it’s similar to the Honor 7 in weight (158g) and thickness (8.2mm) and the Honor 7 is available in the market in three different colors grey, silver and gold. 

Honor 5X Hardware

The Honor 5X has a large screen phone with a size 5.5 inches display which, considered larger than most Honor’s launched phones but decent screen for it’s price and the default resolution at Full HD. The Honor 5X is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 which, an octa-core chipset with Andreno 405 graphics (GPU). The internal used RAM is 2 GB which is suited to the price range. The Honor 5X has a slick performance with little amount of lag when you try to open an app.

The Honor 5X has a both Micro and Nano SIMs also a microSD dedicated slot up to 128 GB, the 5X has a rear autofocus 13Mp camera with a 28mm lens and f/2.0 aperture and LED flash, but at the front is an average 5Mp camera with a 22mm lens and f/2.4 aperture.

The 5X unfortunately lacks some extras which, expected in nowadays handsets such as an infrared transmitter, 11ac Wi-Fi and NFC but all of these extras are existed on the Honor 7. The 5X has 3000mAh non-removable battery which, claimed to last for a day with heavy use and for 1.4 days with moderate use, that’s according to the firm.

Honor 5X Software

The Honor 5X available software is Android 5.1 Lollipop and not preloaded with the latest version 6.0 Marshmallow, also multiple touch feature with Emotion UI 3.1 is used. The 5X design and hardware is generally strong, but the android version used is a big shame. The 5X has a feature of drawing a letter on the screen to start an app, such as letter “c” for launching the camera.

Verdict

The Honor 5X is a great smartphone with a fantastic design, but missing some elements such as 11ac Wi-Fi and NFC which, available on the Honor 7 with a reasonable price dropped to about $300 on offers.
